Something I’ve been waiting to do for the last few years is get lasik eye correction. I was told in college by my regular eye doctor that it was something I could consider..
About a month ago I went online and made it happen. I searched online and found Boston Laser. I filled out a few quick questions on their website and the next day I was contacted to schedule an appointment to learn more about the procedure. I did my online research and filled out my patient information through the bostonlaser.com website.
The day of my appointment I hopped on the T to their convenient Brookline office after work on a Wednesday. I was promptly greeted by the staff and walked though each of the regular eye exams you go though with any other eye appointment. The staff was great! Each test was thoroughly explained to me so I knew what was going on. There was one additional test I wasn’t accustomed to it was called a wavescan. Which create a map of your eye. My eyes were dilated and then I met with Dr. Melki. He explained to me what type of laser vision correction was right for me and walked me through the process of LASIK. I asked a few additional questions, which he answered, and we agreed to the lasik procedure.
Next up, I settled on the payment option that worked for me. Using my FSA money I was able to get affordable interest free payments.
I was excited that I was finally going to be able to make this happen.
They do all of their lasik procedure appointments on Fridays and had an opening for the following Friday. I couldn’t believe I could get the procedure scheduled so quickly.
When I arrived back at the office 2 days later I was greeted in the lobby by one of the staff and she remembered my name. I signed some paperwork and then taken back and walked through what I needed to take care after the surgery. Then, I was given a Valium to relax as I waited for my eyes to dilate. I went into the “laser room” sat back, kept my eye on the binky light. The procedure was quick and painless. I was able to sit up and walk to my room without glasses. Afterwards, I kept my eyes shut for about 30 mins and was checked out by the doctor again. My girlfriend and I grabbed a ride with uber so that I could get home without having to ride the subway. I took a nap and woke up I could see clearly without my glasses!
The next day I went to my brief follow up appointment where the doctor took another look at my eyes and everything was good to go. That day I was able to get some of my Christmas shopping done around town.
Now, when I wake up I can read the numbers on the dvd player, and see my feet in the shower. It has been a whole new experience. I still sometimes find myself reaching for my glasses just out of habit. My eyes are now 20/20. It’s really been awesome so far!
Everyone at Boston Laser made me feel comfortable. They answered my questions and walked me though everything I needed know. I had a great experience and I’m very pleased with the results.

Ignore that spin from the brass - he was fired
- Terry Francona was fired yesterday. The longtime manager and the Red Sox brass used a lot of polite words and tried to make it sound mutual, but Francona turns out to be the first victim of the greatest collapse in baseball history.
A few weeks ago I sailed down to Martha’s Vineyard with Martha’s Dad. We had a good time sailing, filled with a little bit of everything. At one point in the trip we had no wind and the water was like glass. This was from Scituate, MA to the Cape Cod canal. We timed getting to the canal just right to where we had tide & current going with us and were motoring right around 7.5 knots. Buzzards bay was very choppy and breezy as we made our way to Red Brook Harbor. We spent the night at the Kingsman Yacht Center then made our way thought Woods Hole, MA to the Vineyard Sound. Woods Hole was exciting then with the current with us we put up the sails (sailing at around 9 knots) and made our way to Edgartown, MA for 2 nights. We went for a sail, ate on the boat and explored Edgartown a little bit. Parts of the Vineyard were right out of a movie set. Which is kinda funny when you think of it because the movie Jaws was filmed there. One evening we made our way over to Oak Bluff’s for dinner. Everyone was setting up to watch the fireworks show but we were just there to eat and wanted to beat the crowds back to the boat.
I had a great time and I now understand the vineyard! There were a bunch of amazing boats there and I’m not sure if I could go back in the future with out sailing in. I’ve really been spoiled. :-)
I can’t wait to go back.
This guy should have taken a little more care in securing his boat. This video was taken in the North End neighborhood in #Boston.
Hurricane Irene comes to visit #Boston. Here are some sailboats that were moored in the harbor.
This past saturday at #Fenway Martha and I got our picture on the video screen by sending a tweet to @RedSox
We had some of the best seats we’ve ever had about 20 rows behind home plate. Good time and the Sox beat the Yankees.
WoW.. Just wow! This is one of those videos that makes me laugh. This was produced in 1988 for a PBS documentary called American Tougues.
I shot this video on my iphone. It was a 1st attempt at editing video in awhile. It was pretty simple.
Every week there is a parade all around the North End.
